Morning Song

Writer: Jean DavisJean Davis

I come to the gazebo alone

While my husband works on our taxes.

And the chirps I hear

And the rustle of wings --

Oh, how my heart rejoices!

And a squirrel climbs a tree

then hops down to the feeder

and fills his belly with corn.

And the joy I feel as I tarry here

Others have surely known.

We wait in His presence -- alone, perhaps,

but always together in spirit.

We see buds on trees,

purple, white and green,

How His works testify of His goodness!

And He blesses me with the whippoorwill

and the rooster's crow in the morning!

And the grass so green

and the wildflowers' dream

of butterflies kissing the morning.

From our window I've watched as the deer

eat the stalks from last season's garden.

But they won't come near

as I tarry here

in the gazebo drinking coffee.

So with those who love God I lift my cup

to toast our heavenly Father.

We rejoice in Him

as He testifies

of His presence throughout His Creation!

I love your hymn.]
